If you have not guessed already, we like to do things differently here at Escone.
We developed our Avatar’s to reflect the quirky personalities of our incredibly hard-working team and our brand. But we think it is important you learn more about the unique individuals behind them!
You have met Douglas, Alice, and Sam and now it is time to meet Kev – our Co-Founder and Director.
1. Tell us about your current role?
Heading up and being part of a small but very busy business means that I have many roles to fill and I’m happy to get involved in a variety of activities. However, Business Development and our growth strategy is something that I actively drive forward. Not to mention, keeping my hand in with our helpdesk tickets (I’m sure the team will laugh at this!), along with occasional project support.
I am also very aware that our wee business is only as good as the people working in it. Therefore, I constantly try to ensure our colleagues are developing skills for their future. This is something I’m incredibly passionate about.
2. What do you enjoy most about the work you do?
Knowing our journey and what we’ve achieved so far makes me very chuffed to be honest. Mike and I always wanted to create an environment where our colleagues could keep their individuality but become part of a team where hard work and personal development is part and parcel of our business.
Seeing the team grow and develop just as Escone has, along with happy customers makes the efforts more than worthwhile.
3. How do you think your colleagues see you?
Supportive, easy going and a great singer.
4. Tell us something you learned in the last week? (work or personal related)
Workwise, if in doubt over the content of a client’s request, ask a colleague so you don’t spend a weekend fixing a simple requirement. Never stop asking questions or communicating with your team.
Personally, I learned how to make homemade Bounty Bars. No one was poisoned.
5. What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?
I try and keep fit with a number of different activities including going to the Aberdeen Combat Centre and Results Gym. As the shrinking violet that I am, I have also been enjoying Muay Thai (Thai Boxing) for almost two years.
Rugby is another passion of mine, and I’m involved with the Scottish Rugby Player Development Program. Lately, I’ve taken up a new hobby – cold water swimming, which you can read about here.
