Escone Solutions are thrilled to announce that we will be sponsoring the back of the jerseys for The Great Rugby Cycle 2021 in support of the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation.
From the 1st till the 10th of July cyclists will be taking part in this event to raise money for a great cause while taking in the incredible scenery of the Emerald Isle. The Great Rugby Cycle will cover over 1000 miles, with cyclists journeying around Ireland anti-clockwise over 10 days. The inaugural Great Rugby Cycle in 2019 covered 1,133 miles from John O’Groats to Lands End in support of MND. With COVID-19 forcing the 2020 cycle to be cancelled, we are incredibly excited for this go ahead this summer.
Escone colleagues have previously been involved in supporting fundraising for MND with colleagues taking part in last November’s Doddie Gump Challenge in Support of Doddie Aid which raised over £1 million for MND research. This involved participants pledging allegiance to their area which was either The South, Edinburgh, Glasgow, North & Midlands or the Scottish Exiles. After pledging their allegiance participants were to exercise for their region to win the Doddie Gump challenge in support of Doddie Aid which came at an important time during the second lockdown in Scotland it gave people a reason to get outside and keep healthy.
Kevin Wyness, Escone Solutions Director and Co-founder, says: “It’s brilliant news that we will be involved in such a great venture. The people involved and the cause means a lot to us in the organisation. We have colleagues involved in the rugby community and obviously have been involved in supporting Doddies incredible work previously, so we’re delighted to be able to support this event”
Stuart Thom, CEO of the Royal Belfast Golf Club and Great Rugby Cycle organiser says “The cycle has been postponed twice due to COVID and its great that we will be setting off in July with over 30 cyclists completing the full 1000 miles. These events take a lot of planning and support, it is fantastic to have sponsors such as Escone onboard.“
