How long have you worked at Escone and what is your role?
I have been here just over a year, working from my Northampton home. My role at Escone is as a Business Applications Support Analyst.
What do you most enjoy about your job?
I love getting stuck into complex issues & the sense of accomplishment, when you resolve it is particularly rewarding. I enjoy the variety of the problems raised & it keeps me on my toes in terms of product knowledge. I also love working with the talented & supportive colleagues at Escone.
Which of Escone’s core values do you align with most?
I feel aligned with them all. If I had to choose, I would say Proud, as I always want to feel I have provided the best service possible.
What are your work goals?
I am nearing the end of my career, but one goal is to continue to learn which I know will keep me motivated. A good work-life balance is also something I strive for now, which here at Escone is something important to the management so quite easily achieved. I also try & make the most of the hours I am at work & enjoy it whilst still providing the level of service expected.
What is the best piece of advice you’ve been given in your career?
Unfortunately, nothing springs to mind but my advice would be to “Pursue a job you enjoy.”
What is your dream holiday location?
Sri Lanka, which is where my husband is from. Everyone I know who has been there said it is a beautiful place & the people are lovely. I can vouch for that! I really hope to go there one day.
What phone app could you not live without?
Spotify. I have had it from the early days of its release & built up quite an eclectic library. When on long car journeys with the family we love to take turns to choose a tack – some quite cheesy ones.
What is your favourite film or TV series?
There are so many but the one that springs to mind is “A Few Good Men” I love a courtroom drama & love the part where Jack Nicholson says “You can’t handle the truth! I love Homeland/24 – really enjoy these types of series. I remember when Virgin stopped showing 24, partway through the series – I was distraught & spent hours trying to find it somewhere.
Book or podcast? Which do you prefer and what would you recommend?
I’ve read many books over the years – most unfortunately, I have forgotten! A fairly recent one I have read which I really enjoyed was “The Beekeeper of Aleppo” It deals with the plight of a couple who flee Syria & cross many countries to get to Britain. It gives a real insight into what some people may go through to reach a safe country. While it’s a work of fiction it is based on the author’s experiences working as a volunteer in a refugee centre, so powerful stuff.
If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
Teleportation, so I can see all the wonders of the world! I can even teleport into Old Trafford when I want to see a game – although not something I am desperate to do right now! I could also teleport to my Mum’s in France as quickly as a flash!
